My Story

I'm K.O. Myers, Founder and Executive Producer of Particulate Media. I grew up in South Jersey and spent most of my adult life in Philly and Des Moines, Iowa. These days I live just inside the Beltway in Maryland, with my wonderful, talented, and supportive partner Natalie and two adorable but ill-behaved dogs. When I'm not listening to, recording, or editing podcasts, I occasionally give people terrible résumé advice, consume copious amounts of genre fiction, and play entirely too much D&D.

I got my start in audio production at age 10, writing, recording, and starring in action sci-fi spy dramas and parody news broadcasts made on my grandmother's portable cassette recorder. (Those tapes have, mercifully, been lost to history.)

My Approach

With a little practice, almost anyone (or an A.I. of middling complexity) can edit raw audio. They can cut out a few "ums," knock down some background noise, and slap some music underneath the beginning and end of your voiceover.

An experienced editor can help you sound more professional without sacrificing the character that makes you authentic.

Whether it's editing voiceover, filtering out noise, or mixing in music and other sound design elements, Particulate Media lives in that sweet spot between extra polish and robotic perfection.

My Experience

I've been a podcast editor, producer, host, and listener since 2006. I've worked as a radio producer, editor, and DJ. I've written, performed, directed, and edited voiceover for audio and video projects. I've designed and operated sound for college, community, and repertory theatre. I have a BA in Radio, TV, and Film production from Rowan University in New Jersey.

I've also worked in research, programs, communication, and development roles for judicial policy, LGBTQ+, and youth advocacy nonprofits. I have a background in intellectual property and contract law, and I've worked multiple holiday seasons in retail.

My Values

As an individual and a company, I believe that:

  • Black Lives Matter.

  • Gender is a social construct.

  • Trans men and women are men and women.

  • Climate change is happening, and humanity is causing it.

  • Vaccination is a safe, effective public health measure.

  • Equality is not the same thing as equity.

  • Effective advocacy must be intersectional.

  • Individual choices can't substitute for systemic reform.

If these values resonate with yours, I'd love to work with you. Email info@particulatemedia.com to find out how I can help you find your voice.
